About Yield & Go
Is Yield & Go free?
Yes. Every practice test, including the full exam simulator and road sign practice, is free, with no upgrade.
Do I need to sign up?
No. There's no account. Your progress and best scores are saved in your browser on your own device.
Are these the real test questions?
No. States don't publish their test questions. Ours are written from your state's official driver handbook and cover the same rules, in the same multiple-choice format.
Where does each answer come from?
Every answer shows the handbook chapter, section and page it comes from, so you can read the rule in the official guide.
Preparing for the permit test
How hard is the permit test?
It's a multiple-choice test on the rules in your state's driver handbook: signs, right-of-way, speed, safe distances and more. Each state sets its own number of questions and passing score. Knowing the handbook well is the surest way to pass.
What do I need to bring to the permit test?
Each state sets its own list of documents and fees. Check your state's licensing agency website before you go, and book an appointment if your state needs one.
What happens if I fail the permit test?
You can take it again. Your state decides how soon and whether there's a fee, so check its licensing agency. Meanwhile, practice the topics you missed here.
What's the difference between Exam mode and Study mode?
Exam mode is the full practice exam: answers come at the end, like a real test. Study mode shows the answer and why right after each question, so you learn as you go.
How should I study?
Read your state's handbook, practice one topic at a time, learn the road signs, then take the full practice exam until you pass it comfortably.
Can I take the practice tests more than once?
Yes. Each round picks questions at random and many rules are asked in more than one way, so every attempt is different.
What is "Practice my weak spots"?
After you finish an exam or a practice round, we note on your device which handbook chapters you missed. The weak-spots round then focuses on those chapters, and it changes as you improve.
Accuracy
Can I rely on these answers for my real test?
Use them for learning and road-safety awareness. They're based on the official handbook but aren't updated in real time, so always verify answers with your state's current handbook and laws. We give no guarantees and aren't responsible for errors or test results.
I think an answer is wrong. What should I do?
Please tell us through the form on our Contact page, with the state and the question. We'll check it against the handbook and fix it.
