What we do
Yield & Go helps new drivers get ready for the written permit test. You can practice one topic at a time with instant feedback, learn the road signs, or take a full practice exam in your state's real format. Every answer comes with a plain-English explanation and the handbook page to study.
Where the questions come from
Every question is written by us from your state's official driver handbook, and every answer points to the chapter, section and page it comes from. We don't copy questions from the real test (states don't publish them), and we never add rules that aren't in the handbook. The road sign pictures are drawn by us, following the federal sign designs used across the United States.
How we keep it accurate
- Each rule is checked against the exact wording on its handbook page.
- Questions are reviewed before they go live.
- When a state publishes a new handbook edition, we re-check every rule against it and update anything that changed.
Laws and handbooks change, so always confirm current rules with your state's licensing agency.
Free to use
The practice tests, including the full exam simulator, are free. There's nothing to sign up for, and your progress is saved on your own device.
States
Practice tests for 18 states, each in its own state's test format and written from its own handbook. More states are on the way. See every state.
For learning only
Yield & Go is a free education aid for learning and road-safety awareness. It gives you practice and an overall picture of the pattern of the written test, but it isn't the official test and its answers aren't official. Our content isn't updated in real time; new handbook editions and law changes are added over time. Please verify every answer with your state's current handbook and laws. We give no guarantees and aren't responsible for any errors or for your test results. Found a wrong answer? Let us know. See our Disclaimer.
Independence
YieldAndGo is an independent educational tool and is not affiliated with, authorized, or endorsed by any government agency, DMV, or state licensing authority.
