The basics, in plain English, from the Oregon Driver Manual.
You can apply for an Oregon instruction permit from age 15 and a license from 16; under 18, a parent or legal guardian signs your application. (Oregon Driver Manual, p. 89)
The Class C knowledge test is multiple choice: 35 questions on road signs, traffic laws and safe driving, and you need 28 right. You can take it online or at a DMV office. (Oregon Driver Manual, p. 2)
Teens hold the permit for at least six months and log 100 supervised hours (or 50 plus an approved traffic safety course) with a driver 21 or older who has been licensed at least 3 years. (Oregon Driver Manual, p. 90)
A provisional license bars passengers under 20 outside the family for the first six months (then no more than three) and driving from midnight to 5 a.m. with some exceptions, until you turn 18 or have had the license a year. (Oregon DMV: Get a provisional driver license (under 18))
Drivers under 18 may not use a cell phone at all while driving, not even hands-free; adults need a hands-free accessory. (Oregon Driver Manual, p. 80)
Oregon school speed zones are 20 mph when the sign's conditions apply; if you can't tell whether it's a school day, slow to 20. (Oregon Driver Manual, p. 49)
35 multiple-choice questions, and you pass with 28 correct. It covers road signs, traffic laws and other things every driver needs to know, and everything on it is in the Oregon Driver Manual. (Oregon Driver Manual, p. 2)
Yes, at any time on a desktop or laptop with a keyboard, mouse and webcam (not a phone or tablet). Under 18, an adult proctor over 21 must watch. Online you get at most two tries in 24 hours and four in all; after that you test at a DMV office. (Oregon Driver Manual, p. 2–3)
At least 15 for the permit and 16 for a driver license. If you're under 18, a parent or legal guardian signs the electronic application and confirms you're in school. (Oregon Driver Manual, p. 89)
Six months with an instruction permit (an out-of-state permit counts), plus 100 hours of supervised driving, or 50 hours and an ODOT-approved traffic safety course. Then you pass the drive test, unless DMV waives it. (Oregon Driver Manual, p. 90)
Our questions are written from the guide (2026-2027 (Form 735-37, 1-26)). Always study the official handbook from the state. Page numbers are the ones printed on the handbook pages; tap one to open the official PDF at that page. A PDF viewer counts the cover too, so its page numbers run 8 higher.
