The basics, in plain English, from the Nevada Driver Handbook.
Nevada teens can get an instruction permit at 15½ after passing the vision and knowledge tests, with a parent or guardian signing for them. (Nevada Driver Handbook, p. 15)
The knowledge test can be taken online through KnowToDrive Nevada at any hour, on a computer with a front-facing camera, or in person at a DMV office. (Nevada DMV: Written Knowledge Test)
Under 18, keep the permit at least six months and log 50 hours of supervised driving, 10 of them at night, before the license. (Nevada Driver Handbook, p. 14–15)
A new 16- or 17-year-old driver may not carry passengers under 18, other than immediate family, for the first six months. (Nevada Driver Handbook, p. 15)
Drivers under 18 may not drive from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. unless they are going to or from a scheduled event. (Nevada Driver Handbook, p. 15)
Talking on a handheld phone is not allowed while driving in Nevada, and texting or browsing is banned for everyone. (Nevada Driver Handbook, p. 43)
Yes. KnowToDrive Nevada runs it online at any hour with no appointment, in English or Spanish, on a computer with a front-facing camera (touch screens are not supported), with 60 minutes to finish. In person, the DMV gives it on touch-screen computers with no time limit. (Nevada DMV: Written Knowledge Test)
15½. You fill in a license application, pass the vision and knowledge tests, and a parent or guardian must be there to authorize it. Under 18 you also bring the school attendance form (DMV-301). (Nevada Driver Handbook, p. 15)
At 16 at the earliest, after holding the permit for six months, finishing driver education, logging 50 supervised hours (10 at night) and going six months with no at-fault crash, moving violation or alcohol or drug conviction. (Nevada Driver Handbook, p. 14–15)
For the first six months, no passengers under 18 except immediate family. Until 18, no driving between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. unless the trip is to or from a scheduled event. (Nevada Driver Handbook, p. 15)
Our questions are written from the guide (dMV 700 (March 2024)). Always study the official handbook from the state. Page numbers are the ones printed on the handbook pages; tap one to open the official PDF at that page.
